Disney
Welcome to My Disney Page
This is where nostalgia, family, and smart Disney strategy meet. Learn about my Disney vacation club journey.
I didn’t grow up going to Disney.
It wasn’t something my parents prioritized, and for a long time, Disney World felt like someone else’s childhood dream—not mine.

What DVC actually is (and what it’s not)
- Direct vs resale—without the fear tactics
- Points math, dues, contracts, and expiration dates
- Who DVC works for—and who should walk away
- Real examples from my own ownership decisions

I break down Disney upgrades through a Gen X lens: You’ll see honest takes on:
- Deluxe resorts vs moderate vs off-property
- When upgrades elevate the trip—and when they don’t
- Where Disney accessibility quietly shines
- How to avoid spending money just because Disney makes it easy

This page reflects Disney as it’s actually experienced:
- With adult kids
- With grandchildren
- With limited time
- With real budgets and real time
Why I Chose Disney Vacation Club (and What I’ll Help You Decide)
While I was caring for my aging parents, I made a very intentional adult decision: instead of buying a second home in Florida, I invested heavily in Disney Vacation Club.
Those years were hard. My mom developed dementia. My stepfather was living with Parkinson’s, and his condition progressed. Caretaking was constant, emotionally exhausting, and unpredictable. During that time, Disney became my escape hatch.
What mattered most wasn’t long vacations or big, elaborate trips—it was the ability to go for a few days at a time. I could get on a plane, reset, breathe, and be somewhere familiar and comforting, while still being close enough to get home quickly if there was an emergency. That balance mattered more than I ever expected.
Disney Vacation Club gave me:
- Consistency during unpredictable years
- The ability to take short, restorative trips
- High-quality accommodations without the stress of ownership or maintenance
- Flexibility to travel while still managing real-life responsibilities
Disney wasn’t about perfection during that season—it was about having something stable when everything else felt heavy. That lived experience shaped how I think about Disney Vacation Club today.
On this page, I don’t sell Disney Vacation Club as a dream—I teach it as a system. The good, the bad, the math, the tradeoffs, and who it works for—and who it doesn’t.
That’s where “DVC in a Minute” comes in.
